Pellissippi First to Purchase BusinessDecision Academic

Easy-to-use interface to web-based consumer data and mapping tools now available for students and faculty

Pasadena, CA — October 25, 2007 — CIVICTechnologies, an award-winning ESRI Business Partner and the leading provider of geographic information system (GIS) data to libraries, announced today that Pellissippi State Technical Community College in Tennessee has purchased the newly released BusinessDecision Academic to support students in departments such as business/marketing, sociology and public administration.

Pellissippi Library Director, Peter Nerzak, said the Marketing faculty was especially eager for the library to purchase BusinessDecision Academic to provide students with an easier way to access and manipulate consumer data. "BusinessDecision is one of the most useful tools for teaching business I've ever used," said Lisa Bogaty, Associate Professor, Business Computer Technology and Director of Technology Programs. "Students can investigate demographic, geographic, lifestyle and behavioral dimensions of a target market on one site with minimal instruction on the software. From a teaching perspective, this is phenomenal.

"As more and more content is packed into the discipline, having a sophisticated product like BusinessDecision allows me to demonstrate market segmentation in a content rich manner without spending time I don't have doing so," Bogaty added.

Anne Swartzlander, Ph.D., Professor of E-Commerce/Marketing, concurred with Bogaty, saying the Tapestry psycho-demographic market segmentation profiles are just what her students need to complete projects such as choosing the best location for a new business.

Located in Knoxville, Pellissippi State Technical Community College is a fully accredited public two-year college. Pellissippi State employs approximately 185 full-time faculty, 265 adjunct faculty and 231 staff and serves over 7,000 students.
